Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Ah, bleak old Blackpool. The sex shops, the ropey guesthouses, the hardened binge drinkers. But it does have its saving graces – the Pleasure Beach being one of them. There's no doubt you need an open mind: there's none of the lawned refinement or wide open space you'll find at Alton Towers. Some of the rides are crammed so closely together they actually entwine; making it unclear which is which – a tad hairy. But the excitement in the air is almost tangible; this is tacky British fun at its best. So don't be a snob or you'll be deprived of a smashing day out.
