Scene 2. Living Room. Judy, 21, enters. Her mum is reading the paper. Judy: 'Mum can I get new shoes?' Mum: 'What's wrong with your shoes?' Judy (sheepishly): 'Nothing. I just want new ones.' Mum: 'Where from?' Judy: 'Jake.' Mum: 'Is that your new boyfriend? Is he behind this? Don't do it. I did what your father wanted and now I've got three kids.' Judy: 'No it's an independent shoe store.' Mum: 'With a lot of fashionable yet affordable shoes?' [Judy nods]. Mum (sighs): 'Fine. But never let your boyfriend replace your birth control pills with Tic Tacs.'
