Sir Ralph Abercrombie
Oh, those were the days, when knighthoods weren't awarded on the merits of how much one earned on television. The Sir Ralph Abercrombie stands in memory of a famed Napoleonic general, and with a beer garden Lord Nelson would be proud of, this is an old-fashioned boozer, complete with a splendid range of tasty real ale. Supposedly, this 200-year-old pub is haunted by a chap bumped off during the 1891 Peterloo Massacre. History buffs can see this battle recreated every other weekend outside the Manchester City ground.
