Lyme Park
Forget all the history, Lyme Park in Stockport should be rechristened 'that place in Pride & Prejudice where Colin Firth got his shirt wet'. As well as the Tudor house and Victorian garden, there's a medieval deer park complete with its own not–very–PC hunting tower. Inside, many of the traditional Elizabethan interiors have survived, despite an overhaul by some Venetian architect geezer.
