Pleasure Beach

Tackier than Vegas – but without the heat or glitz – is the coastal town of Blackpool they forgot to close down. It may not rival other cities for culture and class, but Blackpool is hearty northern fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. Any visitor should check out the lights with a bag of, before seeing the tower – ooh, isn't it like Paris? –, braving the country's tallest rollercoaster and riding a donkey at the beach. Plenty of women wearing 'L' plates and guys mooning from minibuses will help set the tone, and make you feel posher than the queen. Hurrah!
