Sandbar

Although Sandbar is situated amidst the University area just outside the city centre, it's never over-run with students as it tends to be mainly the lecturers or post-grads who sit and enjoy one of over 70 different beers on offer. The main beer served is Krombacher – just ask the manager why and he'll be happy to share with you his anorak-esque knowledge of Belgian and German beers and cask-conditioned English Ales. The atmosphere's relaxed, with the décor and furniture best described as basic and wooden. There is also reportedly a ghost in the lower levels of this old building who turns off the draughts in the cellar when it suits him. Right, so it wasn't you who just tripped the switch then, no?
