If you're sick of café bars with bright lights and too much chrome, take refuge in the Dog. It's a proper pub, with the usual ebb and flow of crowds making it relaxed during the week and busy at the weekends. Guaranteed to grate your nerves, there's a 'hilarious' quiz–master on Wednesdays, but it's not like Didsbury's quiz central, so make the most of it. If you don't win there's a large barrel of monkey nuts in the corner to help yourselves from and they also make good ammunition for the quiz–master. Houses some of the best ales and worst lagers in the world.
