As if we need to say much about Manchester United Football Club– once home to a certain Mr Beckham, Old Trafford is the sporting centre of the city. It's open seven days a week and has a museum that would entertain even the most passionate football cynics. Tours don't operate on match days or the day before a European game, so check the match list before you go. On your way out be sure to spend some dough at the megastore which, spread over 18,000 square feet, is probably the biggest shop devoted to football you're ever likely to find.
