The death of Discotheque Royales in the late 90s left Picadilly 21's to grab the crown of Manchester's cheesiest nightspot. And despite our disgust, we should thank our lucky stars that there's still a place for clueless freshers and old maggoty pervs to bump and grind the night away. It's here on the sticky dance floor that every Mancunian wannabe serves their clubbing apprenticeship. If it's cutting-edge funky house you're after then you're better off staying in with Pete Tong's Buzz Chart - this is a world in which DJs are strictly of the school disco kind. If you're not pissed then make sure you don't mind the bombardment of a torrent of glow sticks, Ben Sherman shirts and Rockport shoes, but if you are then there should be plenty for you to regret the morning after.
