The Whitworth

Despite being passed by almost the entire student population of Manchester on a daily basis, the Whitworth is an understated art gallery that is surprisingly peaceful inside. Although the focus is on textiles and works of art on paper, the gallery's collection features works names such as Francis Bacon, Peter Blake, Lucien Freud and David Hockney. If you're just pretending to like art, there's a shop and café to play in as well.
