Beach Break Live 2008: not a taxpayer in sight

The days are getting ever longer, the lecture theatres are getting ever more stifling and the exams are looming ever closer. If you're a student, the chances are you'll be counting down the days until you can ditch the shackles of university for another summer – or indeed for good.
Well Itchy would like to suggest an antidote for your academic woes. It's called Beach Break Live – under the wing of festival patrons, Brothers Cider, it's the only event of it's kind geared specially for students and it's coming right for you at a rate of knots.
There's bands by the (sand)bucketload: The Enemy, The Wombats and the eclectic Johnny Flynn to name a few; as well as top DJs like crowd favourites Mr Scruff and Stanton Warriors.
But just as university isn't all about pints and shooters, so too Beach Break Live ain't 'all about the music, man'. Sheep racing, hay-bail hurling, the Ticket to Ride surfing championships and a fancy-dress finale to the proceedings are just a taster of the many, erm, extra-curricular activities on offer.
For sustenance, you can expect nothing but the finest locally sourced food and beer, not to mention ice cold Brother's by the caseload, at very student-friendly prices, not to mention quality down-time in an eco-friendly hot-tub or, erm, on the beach.
Having been nominated for 'Best New Festival' in its opening year in 2007, this event got the thumbs-up from the formidable BBC Dragon's Den quartet, so expect nothing but the best second time around.
